RNC Protest 500,000 Strong

On Sunday the 29th United for Peace and Justice hosted the largest party convention protest in US history—with tallies by the NY Times and NYPD surpassing half a million.

Tweed Magazine took to the streets of Manhattan alongside a half million others to protest the Bush Administration. The left felt strongly unified as Pro- and Anti-Kerry, Green Party, Pro-Nader, Communists, Anarchists, and more marched together in solidarity. Following the massive demonstration United for Peace and Justice continues to seek donations to cover the cost of permits and publicity for their organized marches.

As protests continue Moport.org encourages everyone to submit live photos of the action via cell phones to combat the mainstream media’s suppression of protest imagery. You can MEDIA/NEWS/2004083113330010.zip" target="_blank">download a collection of Tweed’s RNC protest photos here. (Photos by Stewart Smith, use by permission only.)

During the march to Madison Square Garden and back, Tweed stopped to interview both Anti- and Pro-Bush demonstrators. These audio interviews and photo stills will be available for download in the near future. Also check back for Issue 13's official release date, expected in early October.
